Mr Mohsen El Shennawi graduated in 1992 and was admitted to the Bar Association of Egypt in 1993. He later took a post graduate diploma in Islamic Law at Cairo University in 1999.
For 10 years he worked as in-house counsel at the National Authority of Social Insurance practicing Administrative and civil service law, labour law, and social insurance law, handling cases at all levels of the Egyptian Court.
After relocating to Dubai in 2003 he practiced as a Senior Legal Consultant advising private clients, governmental agencies and international law firms on commercial and civil matters, administrative law, family law, shipping law, Shari’a law, labour law, real estate cases and UAE procedural law.
Having practiced for more than 25 years, his legal and strategic experience has assisted him in obtaining Court of Cassation Judgements that are considered to be judicial precedents. Details of recent cases appear below:
2005/2006 – obtained Judgement obliging partners of a limited liability company to pay the debts imposed on their company. The Judgement is considered an exception to Article 71 (2) Commercial Companies Law.
2013 – Successfully brought an appeal and achieved a Judgement in the amount of AED 7m for a well known British company that specialises in providing consulting solutions and human resources technology.
2014 – Successfully brought an appeal for a client with regards to muakhar sadaq (dowry) in the amount of AED 4.6m. The significance of this appeal was that it distinguished between symbolic and monetary dowry in Shari’a Law.
2017/2018 – obtained a noteworthy final Judgement removing a partner from a limited liability company.
Mohsen also assisted in drafting real estate legislation in 2013 for the Dubai Supreme Legislation Committee.
